September - Spring into Spring!
The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up, it must be
spring!
We've endured a long cold winter and spring is finally here! The
birds are singing and the blossoms are out, it's a magical time of year!
Spring is always a busy time in Canberra and flowers take centre
stage, thanks to the opening of Floriade and the start of wedding season.
At Jamison Flowers, spring means long days and a flower stand full
of beautiful blooms. We'll be busy with weddings and functions as
well as making beautiful bunches and arrangements for our customers.
Before we know it, it'll be time to decorate the shop for
Christmas, time flies when you're having fun!
Spring starts with Wattle Day. Wattle was officially gazetted as
Australia's national floral emblem in 1988. It's hard to find a
garden without wattle in Canberra. Its golden flowers grace every
suburb and park, brightening the landscape and making some people sneeze!
We love using wattle in the shop, not for the flowers, but for its
beautiful foliage. Depending on the variety the foliage ranges from
green to a lovely blue, grey colour. It adds great colour and
texture to our arrangements.
We've started spring with some very exciting news, Jamison Flowers is a
finalist in the Sydney Markets' 2014 Florist of the Year competition!
The competition is based on the ratings given by mystery shoppers
who visit florists in New South Wales and the ACT many times during the
year. Those special customers rate our environment and appearance,
our customer service, our products, our product knowledge and our
merchandising, and give us scores out of 100. We have built on our
performance throughout the year and have now been recognised for all our
hard work! We regard customer service as one of the most important
parts of our business, it is just as important as supplying the best and
freshest flowers. It is wonderful to receive this recognition and
I'm very proud of my staff and all their hard work.
Commonwealth Park is starting to blossom with Floriade officially opening
on Saturday 13 September. The theme this year is 'Embrace Passion'.
As always tens of thousands of bulbs will burst from the ground,
thrilling visitors young and old. There will be some very special
guests in Canberra this year including Bindi Irwin. Make sure you
tiptoe through the tulips and enjoy all the Floriade delights on offer!
Be sure you tiptoe in to see us in Jamison as well this September!
The spring flowers are not to be missed, come in and let us create
something for you to mark this very special season!
